As a fairly regular visitor to our fair capital city, I've never really noticed the North/South thing, I mean, Lambeth is on the South side, and is about as defining as it gets as far as London is concerned, then there's Camberwell, as well as Tate Modern, which I've visited as often as any other museum/gallery in London. It not until you get out to Greenwich that you get a sense of it being a separate town; there's a decidedly different 'feel' to the place, a kind of village atmosphere which I found quite appealing. I guess a lot of cities have this; Bristol has Clifton, which is rather similar in feel to Greenwich, a rather quieter, more...refined air about it. I guess the Thames provides a much more clear-cut boundary than occures in other cities, which rely on less specific geography and housing to provide the deviding line.
